Founded in 2005 under the aegis of the Istanbul Education and Culture Foundation (İSTEK) and Yeditepe University, the Yeditepe University Healthcare Institutions (YUHI) group is one of the most established and respected multidisciplinary hospital groups in Turkey and the region, treating 30,000 patients annually at 3hospitals, a health center and Turkey’s first and only private medical faculty and teaching hospital. Yeditepe University Hospital’s advanced facilities are at the service of international patients 24 hours a day, accompanied by specialized personnel and interpreters according to the individual needs of our international patients. With its specialized multilingual personnel and state-of-the-art technology, the hospital ranks among the top health care institutions according to reports published by international research institutions. Established in 2005, the 190-bed hospital is designed and equipped to the most advanced international standards; it became Turkey’s first JCI-accredited hospital group in 2007, gaining ISO certifications in Quality Management and Environment Management Systems in 2011. With its inpatient and outpatient diagnosis and treatment facilities, full Radiology department (MRI,2x64 Multi Slice Computer Tomography, PET-CT), emergency support services and fully-equipped polyclinics, Yeditepe University Hospital is a recognized center of excellence in the region. Many of our physicians and specialists have been trained and worked internationally, helping the hospital to maintain world class healthcare for our international patients with our advanced technology transfer and state-of-the-art facilities.

Yeditepe University ‘Speciality Hospital

A major innovation in the region and designed to serve international patients with not just world, but world-beating, advanced technology, YUHI’s groundbreaking ‘smart hospital’, to be known as Yeditepe University Specialty Hospital, is due to open in 2016. This ultra-modern 212-bed facility, complete with 10 operating theaters, will be a true center of technological, professional and design excellence, served by the region’s most qualified and experienced doctors and physicians. The YUHI Specialty Hospital will represent the cutting edge of modern healthcare technology from the most sophisticated surgical robotics and wireless 24-hour monitoring right down to smart patient beds and a regulated environment designed to give our international patients a holistic treatment and care package not just at – but beyond – international standards. While our ‘smart hospital’ will have a focus on advanced oncology, it will include brain surgery, neurology, urology, general surgery, pediatrics and gynecology departments.

Yeditepe University Dental Hospital

Yeditepe Dental Hospital serves international patients in 10 specialist departments (Maxillofacial Surgery-Implantology, Pedodontics, Periodontology, Dental Radiology, Dental and Implant prosthesis, Endodontics, Oral Diagnosis, Orthodontics, Restorative and Esthetic Dentistry, and Facial pain and Temporo-mandibular disorders) headed by some of the leading dental specialists in the country. The hospital is JCI-accredited, certified by the Association of Dental Education in Europe (ADEE) and the European Federation of Periodontology, and has ISO-9001 international standards certifications.

Yeditepe University Eye Hospital

Established in 2007 and fully accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI), the internationally trained specialists at Yeditepe Eye Hospital offers diagnostic and treatment services to our international patients across 11 specialist branches. The center is fully equipped with intelligent infrastructure and systems for the most advanced diagnostic, treatment and surgical techniques, with a focus on exceptional levels of clinical hygiene.

Yeditepe University Genetic Diagnostics Center

Serving international patients in an 800 m2 area on the university campus, the Center consists of an admissions and physical examination room, together with advanced molecular diagnostics, cytogenics, and tissue culture, laboratories. The Center focuses on clinical cancer genetics for early diagnosis and treatment, pre-implantation genetic diagnostics, molecular karyotyping / chromosome micro-array CGH methods, and advanced R&D.

Yeditepe Medical Center

Yeditepe Medical Center was established as a part of Yeditepe Healthcare Institutions on 27th May 2006. The Center’s team of specialist doctors and experienced support staff deliver world class quality healthcare services across a wide range of medical specialties. Yeditepe Medical Center is equipped with 43 examination rooms, a clinical laboratory, medical imaging clinics with 8 observation beds, and the most advanced technology for outpatient diagnostics and treatment.

From the very beginning, research has been integral to YUHI’s operations. We are therefore proud to be a site for community-based research, whose objective is to improve residents’ health through clinical research studies offered at convenient locations. These centers provide a full range of integrated clinical translational research capabilities; an alternative setting for patients to participate in research studies without having to travel to academic medical centers; research-focused community education programs. Active involvement in clinical research at our centre in Istanbul may give us a chance to contribute to the advancement of medical science and enhanced healthcare quality. In addition, the university’s Healthcare Services Training Research and Application Center is dedicated to “conducting research into the most advanced diagnostic and treatment methods, offering high quality contemporary healthcare services in line with patient needs and expectations and respectful of patient rights, and making an academic contribution to the training and practices of preparatory, undergraduate and post-graduate training and teaching.”

YUHI is committed to building and expanding international affiliations and relationships as part of a continuing process of monitoring and implementing the latest advances in medical science. Currently, Yeditepe University is a signatory to Student Exchange Protocols and Memoranda of Understanding with numerous universities in the United States in addition to agreements with institutions in Europe, China and the Far East. In total Yeditepe University has more than 750 such affiliations worldwide. The university is actively involved with developing the ERASMUS / SOCRATES program with European institutions of higher education. Yeditepe has signed an educational affiliation agreement with the International University in Geneva.

Thanks to the large scale of Yeditepe’s cooperation network, students and lecturers from different faculties and departments study abroad. Academicians from universities and institutions including Oxford, Cambridge, State University of New York, Cleveland Clinic, Imperial College London, Manchester, and Ludwig-Maximilians University Munich visit the medical faculty every year to conduct seminars. In addition, YUHI offers a Clinical Exchange Program that provides physicians the opportunity to exchange ideas and gain experience in a variety of clinical programs. Physicians from around the world are invited by the YUHI Continuing Education Center to spend one to four weeks as involved observers in an interactive exchange program of their choice. Visiting physicians receive a certificate recognizing their participation.

TELEMEDICINE

Telemedicine technology provides opportunities for international patients who live far from a YUHI location to receive their care closer to home. This technology allows us to provide care that is more efficient for our international patients, improving care by eliminating distance as a barrier.

Each year thousands of patients come to YUHI from around the world for specialized medical care. Our International Services Department provides seamless referral services to YUHI. Our direct connection to physicians helps ensure that patients with complex medical needs get the care they need as efficiently and comfortably as possible. In addition to providing patients with information related to our hospitals and available medical services, YUHI has also established referral programs with organizations in several countries that provide access to world-class healthcare at YUHI. Our referral programs help provide a pathway for international patients who initiate care in their host countries. And once patients, their families and loved ones from abroad arrive at any of our Yeditepe healthcare institutions, our International Services Department’s team of trained and experienced professionals will ensure that our guests are made to feel at home, with support and guidance throughout the process of diagnosis and treatment from admission to discharge and follow-up with the patient’s doctors in their home countries, all in the patient’s own language and in a culturally sensitive manner.
