Medical Services

The medical and technical equipment is a top priority and the most important investment for the Athens Medical Group. For that reason, it selects state of the art medical equipment and the most innovative tools to provide high-standard health care services. The medical equipment is continuously upgraded, when more advanced technologies are available. Qualified staff and state of the art medical equipment provide the required conditions, which ensure reliable examinations and effective treatment.

The equipment of the Athens Medical Group includes:

• Gamma Camera PET/CT.

• Magnetic Resonance Scanners including 3 Tesla, an excellent tool of diagnosis, study and monitoring, since it has the highest resolution for the imaging of very small cancer lesions or tumor sites.

• Multislice Computed Tomography Scanners, including SOMATOM Sensation 64 Cardiac.

• 3D Echocardiography Scanner, fully equipped for three dimensional transthoracic echocardiography and forthree dimensional 3D transesophageal ultrasound, Ultrasound Scanners of the latest technology.

• Systems of Linear Accelerator, including Novalis Tx and Trilogy, IMRT and IGRT Treatment Planning Systems.

• Robotic Surgery Systems, including the most advanced da Vinci ® Si HD Robotic Surgery System.

International Patients

The Athens Medical Group cooperates with international Insurance Funds and private Insurance Companies. It also cooperates on medical level with all the countries of southeastern Europe and especially with FYROM, Albania and Romania. It has concluded to partnerships with international organizations for the hospitalization of employees that reside in the Balkans (British, Americans, etc.), and collaborates with governments for the treatment of war victims (Libya). Finally, it cooperates with international tourism agencies for the treatment of patients within the framework of medical tourism, while it also provides support to foreign patients with renal conditions in the Dialysis Unit.

Patient admission process:

•   A medical history is always requested, in order for the Center to provide the best healthcare services based on the patient's condition.  

•   If a patient is interested in diagnostic tests (e.g. ΜRI, CT, ECHO), an appointment is scheduled.

•   If it's a visit in the Outpatient Clinic, an appointment is also scheduled.

•   In case of surgery or hospitalization, the patient selects the doctor after consultation with the hospital's administration.

•   The doctor is informed about the case and the administrative department makes arrangements about the patient's hospitalization at the IMC (cost of hospitalization, duration of hospitalization, type of room, preoperative evaluation, etc.).

•   A Provisional Proforma Invoice is always provided to the patient, that does not guarantee, however, the final hospitalization cost.

•   The patient before being admitted always signs a statement of consent, undertaking the responsibility to fully pay the invoiced amount for his hospitalization, even if this cost exceeds the initially budgeted one, provided by the Center's representative, as a result of unforeseen circumstances.

In order to be admitted, the patient has to prepay the entire cost of his hospitalization, unless otherwise instructed by the hospital's administration.

International Partnerships

The most important strategic partnerships of Athens Medical Group is with the German colossus in the field of Health, Asklepios Kliniken GmbH, which, since 2007, has participated in company’s share capital by 30.7%. Asklepios Kliniken GmbH was founded in 1984 and is currently the largest European Group in the field of Health Care. It owns 100 hospitals, with a total capacity of 20.000 beds. It employs 36,000 employees and has a turnover exceeding 2 billion euros. The most fundamental purpose of this partnership is providing specialized services, such as the participation in «public – private sector partnerships» and privatization of public hospitals.

The Group’s value-added features include: its expertise in cost and quality optimization, the ability to provide high-standard Health Care services, and the know-how to operate facilities as diverse as general and maternity hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and psychiatric units. Athens Medical Group has signed, as well, a Cooperation Memorandum with the University hospital Massachusetts General Hospital (M.G.H) of the Harvard Medical School. Athens Medical Group also cooperates with Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) of London, the leading institution for research, education and training in fetal medicine founded and chaired by Professor C. Nicolaides.
